An interview with Wassupbrothers and a Giveaway: Win a hedgehog!

I am so excited for this giveaway because I've been a huge fan of Olga's shop, Wassupbrothers, ever since I found her on Etsy. She makes adorable little creatures that I find so charming with their different colors, textures and fabrics. And Olga is giving away a hedgehog to one reader of The Curious Pug! I can't deny I'm just a little jealous :) 

This isn't the exact hedgehog you can win since they are all individually handmade, but it will be very similar.

There's no doubt that your little creatures are absolutely adorable! Where do you get your inspiration for making them? 

My inspiration come from everything: the nature, morning sunshine, pieces of fabrics, strange colors combinations, my husband smile, our wonderful funny dogs. Sometimes you can take single button and in the end you have beautiful bird or lion. You never know what you will see  in the end, that’s why I do not use patterns mostly. It's a magic to see, how tiny pieces of fabric, vintage buttons, old dresses or embroidered table runner turn to a soulful creations. 

I love that they all have such cute names. How do you pick their names? 

Sometimes the name appears in the process of making. Usually after I finished making  a toy, I'm starting to think who he or she look like how the names suit him or her. Try lots of different names. If I do a custom toy its always easier to create personality if the customer gives  me the name. I love this process of choosing names (and my husband is a big helper on it). Many great choices I've had from him.

Do you have a favorite creature in your shop?

I love all of my creations but mostly I love Owly owl and Alan and Edgar owls (in fact every new creature is my favorite at the moment). 



Do you have plans for making a different type of creature in the future? 

I had lots of plans for making different animals, sea creations,  I want to try hand puppet owls and animals. I just wish to have 48 hours in a day to make all my ideas come true.

What goals do you have for Wassupbrothers in 2013?

My first goal  in 2013 to be more organized, use my time and work more productively. To find balance between family and work. I still thinking about open second Etsy shop and really interested in making accessories, jewelry and clothing. I already have my Etsy shop like a full time job, I cant even think about it 1 year ago) I just need to grow 6 hands else and everything will go perfectly).
