The granny square pillow!

There were 62 votes cast for November's project, and the granny square pillow won by 71%! Now, I'm hoping that since 62 of you stinkers voted, there will be 62 links in the link up, unlike October's link up (I use the term stinker lovingly). Last month there were around 50 votes and only 6 people actually linked up. So for the future, please only vote if you plan on participating. Thanks!!
Pattern:

Materials needed:
-4 yarn colors (at least) in whatever yarn you prefer
-G hook or whatever hook you prefer
-Pillow insert (the bigger the pillow, the more squares you'll have to make obviously so take this into consideration! Mine is 14x14)
-Darning needle
Time frame:
We will be linking up at the end of November, most likely the 30th.
Stitches you need to know:
-Chain stitch (ch) (video tutorial)
-Double crochet (dc) (video tutorial)
-Slip stitch (sl st) (video tutorial)
-How to join granny squares (this will be new for me!)
Helpful videos and tips to get you started:
-How to make a granny square with circle center - Her photos are really clear in the pattern, but if you still would like a video to watch, try this one. Just know that he puts more DCs in the center circle than the pattern instructs.
-How to join granny squares - Connect squares with sl st and sc video or Connect squares with whip stitch video.
Don't forget, you are free to do this project however you want. If you don't want to use 4 colors for each square or if you don't want your granny square to start with an open hole, you are free to do it however you want! If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below.
If you are participating, feel free to grab a button to share the word!

ReplyDeleteI have been tempted to make granny squares for a while, so it will be good for me to finally make one. Hoping this one isn't too difficult for me.
ReplyDeleteWell, I just posted the link to my blog for the October project. Had a little family issue, and could not post it til now. VERY excited about the November project. I think I have enough yarn, so that I won't have to purchase any for the pillow. Didn't vote for the pillow.... but... I am going to DO IT!!! (Didn't vote for the bowls, either..... but, I am extremely pleased with the finished project!!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the "kick in the pants" to keep up and finish a project!!!
Yippeeee. I've already made 5 squares last night...
ReplyDeleteI'm using thinner yarn so need like 36 squares per side, but it's totally worth the effort.
