This week I got a sneak peak at what motherhood is like! For real, I know it may sound silly but I don't really see a difference between caring for a human baby and a puppy (granted I've never had a human baby to compare this to but I can imagine can't I?). For instance, crying when I leave the room, lack of sleep, hurrying to shower (or not at all), pee and poo almost everywhere (outside at least) even on me, carrying baby in a makeshift baby bjorn (my hoodie), not paying attention to my husband, get things done during baby naps, feeling guilty for leaving to get some errands done, feeling scared and sad when they have to get shots. But I love it. That doesn't mean I want a human baby just yet, but I'm loving this little pup and so is Monty. I love Monty even more now seeing how good he is with her. I freaking love my dogs like they were my kids. And I love you if you understand.
I posted a few videos earlier this week of Monty and Mabel playing on The Full Monty if you'd like to see! There will be more to come in the future so check back often :)

Not only do I love Crockett like he's my baby, I love him more than I like most people ;)
ReplyDeleteMabel & Monty are adorable together - great videos!
I understand this and I do to! My fur (and feather) babies ARE my kids. A LOT of people don't get this. But I think that's their problem! Congrats on your latest addition, and much love and blessings to you and your family! My boys send their best wishes and kisses to Monty and Mabel!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Loved the vids on Full Monty! Can't wait to see more! :oD
I just watched the videos and Mabel is sooo cute. I love how Monty is with her! So stinkin' adorable. If I read this post a few months ago, I wouldn't understand but now having Cheerio, I completely understand. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have kids so I guess it's impossible to say what one is like in comparison to the other (as you said!) but I always tell Rob that in some ways caring for a dog is harder - for example you can't bring them everywhere you can bring a baby (supermarket, restaurant). But on the other hand, I can yell at my dog and she won't tell her therapist how much she hates me in 15 years. haha
ReplyDeleteI am TOTALLY a dog mom. My dog is my child. I even refer to myself as Mommy when I talk to her, which is totally crazy to most people but that's how it is lol
ReplyDeleteShe starts doggy day care soon and I'll probably cry when I drop her off. ...I'll just tell people I'm crying because I dropped my 5 year old off at school for the first time and then they won't think I'm so nuts haha!
Hahaha Caitlin and Rochelle ^^^. Sometimes I tell people I have a one year old son too so that they won't think I'm crazy for taking off work or leaving something important for my puppy.
ReplyDeleteI love being a dog mom. I never understood how people go so crazy over it until I got Bentley (my boston). And Mabel is so so adorable..keep all of her old clothes and collars because they are wayy fun to look at when they are full grown!
Oh my god, Mabel is adorable! I want a puppy now! I remember training my Husky, which was so easy but I miss it, he was so tiny and so cute!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE DOGS in general! I think they have human features and behavior! My dog has so many different faces and reactions that all are written on his face. I totally understand you! Dogs are like your babies for life! :-) Your newborn puppy is so cute! (like all all of them of course!)
ReplyDeletegirl. having a puppy IS like having a baby! I got NO sleep when both of mine were pups, I get sad to leave them, I spend half my days entertaining them or watching to make sure they don't destroy the house. I clean up poop and pee all day. It's a nightmare! But they are sooooo cute? so it's all worth it. : )
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet face... Awwwe....
ReplyDeleteshes so adorable, my niece and nephew are the cutest around :)
ReplyDeleteShe's precious! And raising a puppy is absolutely like raising a baby. Our golden retriever, who's now 4, cried and cried and cried for the first weeks of his life with us. Cried while we were in the bath. Cried when we were asleep. Cried when we were on the phone. Potty training wasn't a huge issues, and he was so adorable that when he had accidents it was almost hard to punish him -- he was the sweetest ball of white fluff e-v-e-r -- but oh dear Lord, the crying drove me INSANE.
ReplyDeleteThat's my puppy story (: hehe, sorry for the small novel. Your blog is wonderful, by the way! Definitely sticking around.
Caring for a puppy is hard work! But SO worth it!! ;)
